The 14th Annual Pierce County Bike Swap is a FREE family-friendly community event put on by Ride Together Pierce, where anyone can sell or buy used bicycles and bicycle parts. We encourage you to bring a helmet if you plan on test-riding bikes.

At the Bike Swap, Ride Together Pierce is planning on providing:

  • 🏷️BIKE SALE RACK: Buy a bike or sell a bike at our Bike Sale Rack. If you have 1-2 bikes to sell, this is the recommended route. There are no listing or selling fees. You do not need to sell a bike to buy, or trade. Come find your new-to-you ride!
  • 🦺BIKE SAFETY CHECKMake sure your bike is safe to test ride by taking it through a free safety check by a professional bicycle mechanic.
  • 🔧BIKE REPAIRS: Trek Bikes will be on-site to handle more complex repairs, at a cost.
  • 🚴🏿BIKE TEST RIDE AREA: Test out your potential new ride on a secure, short route through the Swap.
  • ⛑️LOW-COST HELMETS: Provided by Downtown on the Go, bicyclists can purchase affordable helmets and get a proper helmet fitting.
  • 🗺️BIKE MAP MASTERS: Discuss best biking routes with seasoned local riders at the Bike Map Masters station.
  • 🚦BIKE SKILLS PRACTICE AREA: Folks of all ages and abilities can practice safe riding skills such as balancing, scanning, stopping, turning, and more.
  • 🚍PIERCE TRANSIT BUS: Practice putting your bike on the bus rack in a calm environment.
  • 😋FOOD TRUCKS: Enjoy delicious sweet and savory food from food trucks Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck, Now Make Me A Sandwich and Cascadia Pizza Co.!
  • 🚲BIKE INDEX AND BICYCLE BENEFITS STICKERS: With a Bike Index sticker, you can add security to your bike by registering it to the Bike Index directory. A Bicycle Benefits helmet sticker can be used to receive discounts at participating businesses in Pierce County (and nationwide).
  • 🛍️VENDORS: We are inviting local bike shops and bike-related organizations to show off their products and share the latest information with you on bicycling in Pierce County. If you have several bicycles or bike parts to sell, we recommend you register as a vendor. Vendor registration for 2025 is now closed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  1. Buying and Selling
  2. ATM LOCATIONS
  3. GETTING HERE
  1. HOW MANY BIKES CAN I SELL?
If you have 1–2 bikes to sell, we recommend utilizing the bike sale racks. If you have multiple bikes or bike parts to sell, we encourage you to sign up as a vendor and sell your items at a booth. Vendor registration is free.
  2. HOW CAN I PRICE MY BIKE? You can use BicycleBlueBook.com to help determine the value of your bike.
  3. HOW DOES BUYING/SELLING WORK?
You do not need to pre-register your bikes. Simply show up with your bikes or bike parts day-of. Please note that some sellers/vendors can only accept cash! Come prepared or find an ATM nearby.
    • FOR FOLKS SELLING BIKES ON THE SALE RACK (BIKE CORRAL):
      • Make sure the bike is in good condition: There will be a Bike Safety check station for folks to make sure the bike they are wanting to buy/sell is in decent shape and rideable.
      • Put your bike on the rack: Bring your bike, register it at our Bike Sale Racks booth by adding a tag to your handlebar. On the tags, you will add your contact info, info about the bike and your price. Lock the bike up to the bike sale racks (must provide your own lock). We ask sellers to remain onsite/nearby as long as they are selling their bike. New in 2025, we will provide sturdy, waterproof tags to ensure the tags stay put.
      • In the meantime: For folks waiting to sell their bikes, we will put together a small park where people can hang out in comfort, courtesy of Downtown On the Go. New in 2025, this area will be covered!
      • Test ride the bike: Interested buyers are welcome to test ride the bike in our test ride course so people can get a feel for the bike. The route is a coned-off section in the same lot as the Swap, with a volunteer assigned at the entrance. Please bring a helmet if you plan on test-riding bikes.
      • Make a deal: The interested party will contact the seller via the information listed on the tag. If a purchase is being made, the buyer and seller may agree to use cash, check, or third-party apps such as Venmo, PayPal.
      • End of day: Please collect your bikes by 2:00 p.m. Bikes left behind at the end of the event will be donated locally.
    • FOR FOLKS SELLING ITEMS AS A VENDOR: Arrive on site between 8 - 9:30 a.m. and prepare your stall with the bike items you are selling. Please do not arrive before 8 a.m. Vendors are encouraged to supply their own tables and chairs, but we will have a supply if needed. Tear-down will begin at 2 p.m.
  4. CAN I DONATE MY BIKE/PARTS AT THE END OF THE EVENT? Yes! Please donate unsold bikes and bike parts to the 2nd Cycle or Bikes for Kids, both will be present at the Bike Swap and taking donations throughout the event.

Register your bike for added security:

If you buy a bicycle, please register it (or ask the previous owner to transfer ownership to you) in BikeIndex.org. Bike Index is a nonprofit online bike registry where anyone can register their bicycle for free. Bike Index has helped recover many lost or stolen bicycles nationwide.
